چکیده

Abstract. This paper presents an extension of the Generative Dependency Grammar (GDG) and GDG with Feature Structure (FS). The extension consist of the indirect dependency notion introduction. The direct dependencies allows to expres some relations between elements (for exemples non-terminals) belonging to the the right side of a single grammar rule. The indirect relations will allow to express relations between elements belonging to the right side of diferent grammar rules. This feature allows to write shorter grammar rules and therefore more compact grammars. This will facilitate the writing of grammar rules, thing that is not a trivial one.

Multiword Expression Translation Using Generative Dependency Grammar

The Multi-word Expressions (MWE) treatment is a very difficult problem for the Natural Language Processing in general and for Machine Translation in particular. This is true because each word of a MWE can have a specific meaning but the expression can have a totally different meaning both in source and in target language of a translation. The things are complicated also by the fact that the sou...

Natural Language Syntax Description using Generative Dependency Grammar

Language Processing is a growing field in computer science and engineering, related to both theoretical and applied computational techniques relative to natural language and the use of language knowledge. This issue of the research journal " Polibits " presents four contributions concerning natural language processing. Two of them draw formal models of two categories of knowledge of language: s...

A Novel Approach to Conditional Random Field-based Named Entity Recognition using Persian Specific Features

Named Entity Recognition is an information extraction technique that identifies name entities in a text. Three popular methods have been conventionally used namely: rule-based, machine-learning-based and hybrid of them to extract named entities from a text. Machine-learning-based methods have good performance in the Persian language if they are trained with good features. To get good performanc...

Unavoidable Ill-nestedness in Natural Language and the Adequacy of Tree Local-MCTAG Induced Dependency Structures

Within generative approaches to grammar, characterizing the complexity of natural language has traditionally been couched in terms of formal language theory. Recently, Kuhlmann (2007) and collaborators have shown how derivations of generative grammars can be alternately represented as dependency graphs. The properties of such structures provide a new perspective of grammar formalisms and differ...

Online Processing of English Wh-Dependencies by Iranian EFL Learners

To be able to reach the level of ultimate attainment in the second language, learners need to acquire not only the grammar of the L2 but also the language processing mechanisms involved in the comprehension of sentences in real time. Contrary to its importance, very little is known yet about online L2 processing. This study examines whether advanced Iranian learners of English reactivate disloc...
